This ability works the same way as quick step, me and a friend decided to have a cestus duel one of us would use bloodhound step and the other used quickstep these are the results. BHS away on the first jump, away on the second jump and towards her for the 3rd jump and she goes right over your head. Especially for Malenia, mower blade of Miquela. A singular mistimed dodge could potentially end a fightBUT TO HELL WITH ALL THAT! It needs multiple modifications to not be. Good for late game especially against machine gun mages, just dont spam it to piss people off. Would be cool if it was like bloodhounds finesse, except a lesser version. Quickstep seems more focused. I like it. Well let me tell you that if they don't use something as broken, they don't stand a chance. It's a pretty cool but overpwered honestly ash of war that could use a nerf or two in fp cost and travel distance. a lot of the problems people have with this game would be fixed if they stopped playing pvp. But to me the big problem is that you can slap it on anything and you can spam with basically no downtime. Nerfing it to use 15 or 20 fp, would be great cause they it would actually take skill to use. That's what I'll be doing when I finally play PvP, just like with any other skill, weapon, or spell someone else is using. All trademarks are property of their respective owners in the US and other countries. put bleed buildup and damage to the user on it, that way it's a berserk reference and everybody will love it, while stopping the goddamn spamming. So much cope coming from BHS haters lol. It's a game. *looks up bloodhounds step on fextralife* *goes to comments* *grahs popcorn*, No wonder the souls community gatekeeps, this is ridiculous, whoever spam this in pvp are just bad at souls games, should quit playing this game, Every single time someone writes BHS for Bloodhound's Step, I have to think of the Butthole Surfers, lol. You get the picture. No, you won't stop complaining about it. If this was addressed there might be a few less people using BHS. BloodHound step is a mistake, change my mind. Its unfun. Makes space for a fun playstyle with heavier weapons. Literally anything happens? The only difference I see is a higher FP cost, and temporary invisibility. It's basically a "get out of jail" card from any conflict: Ganked? You pretty much have to use Bloodhound step to counter itself. I recommend everyone to use it, brb gonna beat the game using this and then brag about how I beat Elden Ring and it wasn't so bad LMAO. Adding a small delay between casts? To hell with all that complicated "rolling", use Bloodhound's Step today! Just have it so you need to be Light speed to utilize it correctly, and I think this would be fine as you need to specialize around it and/or sacrifice armor and poise. Once youve exhausted the 300 hours of content - all of which is absolutely stunning - youll slide into PvPs DMs out of sheer boredom and realize there is an entire other world and community within the Souls games. Why bother with literally any other ash of war when u can just spam the step almost for free?, like even quickstep, why bother having it there? Bloodhound was way better and more reliable to dodge attacks however it proved difficult to land hits on the opponent when using it point blank, quick step was less capable in dodging but allowed for a faster attack we found after using both quick step is better for close range encounters, whereas bloodhound is better for medium to long range ones, the best way we found to use bloodhound was to dash backwards and follow up with a light attack, it perfoms the same attack as a running/back step attack but with way more range than the standard back step/running.quickstep is better used to dash forward or to the side allowing for a rolling attack at a faster pace than the standard. This concludes my Ted talk about the bloodhound step and quickstep. Saved my ass a few times dealing with the rot lake in the Haligtree.2. (And it really helps with lava or slow walking areas.) Just met a host during coop who did nothing but run away using this and expected the other summon and me to do all the work. If you nerf it to oblivion people will be pissed because its fun to use. What disappoints us is that it seems - to me - that From has taken their 13 million balls and gone home. I only really use this when helping others in boss battles, it just doesn't feel right to use in PVP. tad overated, 90% of what it does can be achived with a well timed roll, it has its pros but its more worth it to just use an ash that does damage and learn how to time your roll. Vow of the Indomitable is 20FP and you can't move, this is 5FP and the best dodge in the game. It's just too good an excuse for why your 1shot build lost the last fight, isn't it? The problem lies in the fact that BHS users control the pace of a fight with near zero consequences. It's a trade and it will always be. This skill allows you to deal with literally any problem thrown at you be it AoEs, lingering hitboxes, any sort of melee attack or AoW, spells, or even rushing someone down as it outspeeds running. Anyone remember how players would spam it to get wins before 1.03? Overall, I AM A BOWLING BALL! The devs literally importing the Bloodborne Dodge and pasting it as an ash of war. Valve Corporation. just exposes the people who use it. Double the stamina cost to 24 (=2 rolls)? you dont use bloodhound's step because your a respectable human being.i dont use bloodhound's step because its really hard to dodge by pressing L2 instead of O we are NOT the same, You can get this by dying to the Virgin abductor in the academy, being transported to the manor, then jumping to the main area, make it to the bloodhound knight, then you can either take it off the bloodhound claws that he drops or duplicate the ash at the blacksmith, Looks garbage compared to Old Hunter Bone Blink. Perhaps removing 1 or 2 iframes? They should reduce its cost to 1, make it a chargeable so you can just kind of slide while stealthed in a general direction and upon exit had a follow up have attack with a poise break. So it wasn't a crutch but rather a tool used for dealing with specific things in a fight. Contributions to Fextralife Wikis are licensed under a, Ash of War: Bloodhound's Step | Elden Ring Wiki. Unbalances PvP to the point of unplayability where the only truly effective counter is to simply wait for your opponent to run out of FP. That seems like a more reasonable area to me; get everyone to come together in the community, make a set of ground rules and then playing accordingly. One of the major points of this game is for it to be more accessible to new players so why in the world would they get rid of/nerf the accessibility options they put in? This isn't a crutch for bad players, it's a goddam wheelchair. This is also great for escaping dragon attacks, stars of ruin, and moon spells. Or a PvP only server so that you all can duel accordingly. Bloodhound's Step is a regular skill that can be found in Ashes of War, it can also be used on all melee armaments.. For duels i actually recommend quickstep. However I could easily see fromsoft doing to this exactly what they did to hoarfrost stomp. It would also make the spam in pvp more bearable which is nice. Increase FP significantly or drain stamina immensely to balance otherwise if I'm looking for the most effective Ash to change the tide of any fight, this is the one.If you're not a master of dodging and timing up close and don't want to sit back and spam midrange spells like Frost Spear or Comet, this is your move.It IS freaking fun to use though. Sure, it's got some balance issues, but you could try going outside. Parry is unreliable with lag, and phantom range on attacks makes running away normal impossible. You tried to hide that reused quickstep animation and faaaaaailed. That being said, if you're one who wants to criticize someone's skills because they use BHS in PvP, I have a suggestion. Activated the grace outside the rise, went inside through the spirit spring on the balcony, and when I was halfway up the elevator got the Enemy felled prompt and this AoW. I think a nice BHS nerf would be making it so that using it multiple times in a row increases the fp cost in that chain of use. But no, "pVP-eRs aRe tOxiC". "Oh no, Invasive bullies can't bully as easily!" Its basically like a car, you can move real fast through deep water movement debuff areas, and if you really like, you can move closer to a bloodborne character's pace than a dark souls one. I have no clue what they were thinking when they added this to the game. The low FP cost provides the player with a good alternative to dodging attacks which can be applied to any weapon. More people playing means more dedication and attention from the developers thus making it a better experience for EVERYONE. I'll take this skill over kamehamehas or trading hits with logs. As long as it's not outright cheating through hacks or things that are clearly not meant to be (I'm looking at the "trainers") I really don't get why people are this against Bloodhound's Step. Also, don't people usually organize PvP sessions if they want to do it or something? The problem with removing BHS is that it makes large AOE extremely OP like dragon incantations. I actively challenge anyone to come up with a realistic and accessible way of countering this. Yeah, I'm backing out anytime I see someone use this garbage in pvp. Even if I start the boss right after buffing 10 seconds later 'ohanother invaderduring the boss'. Traversal of areas that slow your movement and don't allow for Torrent, the same broken agility is a godsend in GTFOing out of a bad situation where you're movement is otherwise slowed. This combined with havel's ring created the 'flipping havel' meme. Like, it's really not that hard if you think about it for a sec. Came here for the Wesker-style blink on tap, and instead got a stretched out quickstep animation that goes invisible for no discernable reason, with obnoxiously long iframes, huge travel distance and no style whatsoever. I've noticed people spamming it end up not getting any attacks in as the travel range is way too far per use. I could wait to kill an invader before fighting the boss, but then I don't have all of my healing which is a pain. fingerprint shield poke mentioned below) to beat it, it needs to be tweaked. The issue with it is that it just prolongs the fight way too much for no reason. This skill allowed me to beat Melania as an int spellcaster. Just put it on a +0 dagger or something, I see too many people dying to Waterfowl Dance. I guess I bullied one too many frenzy/rob mains in pvp with it XD, They should only allow you to use this ash if you own an actual Naruto headband irl otherwise its pretty broken tbh, I put my degree to actual use and made a script that crashes and corrupts peoples games. They could drastically change it to where Bloodhound's cost 15 from 5, or they could make it cost 20 - 30. Restricting it to Daggers and Claws la how Quickstep was in DS3 (sans the Thrall Axe)? Bloodhound's Step will instead behave like. Why are you sliding? BHS and sip on the blue juice. For anyone struggling with the horseman in melee, try the quickstep ash and run straight at the horses head while on footHis AI didn't seem to handle that well and I was able to take it down far easier than before, best way to get your duelist to jump off a bridge, I put this on a Magic Troll's Golden Sword +25 hahahaaaaa. What happened? He said he wouldn't add an easy mode. Contributions to Fextralife Wikis are licensed under a, This is an Ash of War Skill, associated with the. Just keep hitting L2, and you can almost guarantee you will be absolutely fine! Hosts and invaders alike can run away and heal with ease, prolonging fights until someone messes up badly enough or uses up all fp. It may be fun if you use it like in short bursts in pvp as it's cool for you and adds drama to the situation for the other person but when you spam it it just ruins the fun. You can have all this, and more, all for the low cost of only 5 FP! Still had to learn the other things you know.Mohg will probably see BHS use as a means to safely traverse the cheap Bloodflame he spams all over the place. When I eventually PvP I'll try and avoid using BHS, but as a means of dealing with select things in PvE it's an amazing tool. If someone had a doubt of how broken this is (I see people who does), let me give you an example.First of, I don't usually use any broken things, because I like the challenge for PVE, and a fair PVP.Then I reached Maliketh, and after a few tries where I just couldn't hit him during his second phase without him 2 hit combo me (I use a colossal weapon), so in a moment of weakness, I slapped it on a gutsword, and used my old zweihander in the left hand. What? Every now and then developers will develop something extremely busted but fun to play as. Its been months to have no fixes at ALL to legitimate PvP issues - ESPECIALLY after the PvP-less Sekiro (a fantastic game) - is extremely disheartening and honestly makes me nervous about the future direction of FromSofts priorities moving forward. You're allowed to use it as a crutch if you need, and you're allowed to use it as an advantage if you're skilled. Yawn. Upon activation, you will instant transmission about half a football field away/towards whatever you're fighting, and you'll get invincibility frames while doing it! Because some people play for fun and not for ''omg this is the meta omega broken thing I have to use it''. Why use anything else other than rivers of blood. BHS. I imagine it would make a big difference in balancing PvP, that's believable. The only time it gets used is when hosts start running marathons. Players must explore and fight their way through the vast open-world to unite all the shards, restore the Elden Ring, and become Elden Lord. Elden Ring was directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki and made in collaboration with George R. R. Martin. Bloodhound Step isn't a mistake at all as I see it. while i dont know what would be an effective and fair way to balance this, i feel one thing that could be implemented along side anything else is further limited what weapons this ash of war can be applied to; kind of seems like a weird thing for an ultra greatsword to be using, yknow? Pretty sure the only people that complain about this use Stars of Ruin, Rivers of Blood, Moonveil, some kind of thrusting meta weapon, crouching R1s on a colossal sword, basic chicanery. This ash of war is purely defensive and has never won a battle on its own. This aow makes 5 min duel into a 15 min shitshow, after 1.04 i had to re-kill the Knightrider to get this back after it vanished from my inventory, When it inevitably gets nerfed, there's going to be a lot of free kills on those crutchmasters xD. Have fun playing Elden Ring instead of trying to impress total strangers who don't care about how good you are at a video game. Just don't bother and use the Finger Severer. Moves faster and travels farther than a regular quickstep. Press J to jump to the feed. Bloodhound step is the best PvP skill. Is that another cross naginata with bloodhound step and off hand seppuku ash? But if ANY of those builds use this, it's pretty much game over. Map Link, "I don't want to play the game anymore" ash of war. It would be nice to put a cooldown on it though for balancing purposes. Any other PVPers not find BHS hard to deal with? Fromsoftware please dont nerf for pve. That's right, 5 FP! I swear people if you want pvp free soulslike game with good coop go play Nioh. Quickstep FP cost is 3, while Bloodhound's is 5. I can see it working fine for PvP, but Quickstep still seems much better. Fun Fact: Yes, it will get nerfed. I think the bloodhounds step has more i frames, I mean when you run outve fp bloodhound is basically quickstep, It lets you circle round the target when locked on and follow up dodges with attacks which are both ultra useful features, i might be wrong but i do not think this is possible with Bloodhound Step. This absolutely needs to go. There are literally zero methods of consistently countering this without building around it. Its broken. I think it would be nice the animation being the dashstep of Melina black knifes. This is why we are so upset with Froms casual attitude toward Elden Rings PvP - PvP is what gives these games their longevity and is a HUGE part of why the community is so intense. Geez people need to understand that you still have a trade off with this aow. What weapon you guys put Bloodhound step on? You know, so you are having fun. Every MMO that had an ability like this put cool downs on them so they could only be used once every 10 to 15 seconds. I am trying out a strengh build for PVP currently where I am overloaded on weight and can only use this aow and the lightning ram to move or do damage. Same reason why they wouldn't touch ashes (except for the mimic but that one can still beat the game for you). Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts. I don't get the consistency. If someone spams Bhs just use the finger severer. I'm pretty sure it's nice to not care about something so close to you that when it eventually gets f'd you wouldn't cry about it right? THIS IS IT. The PvPers. This skill can be used to circle around lock-on targets.". Feels really weak and under rated. This isn't only a crutch in PvP, actually. Nothing else is nearly as broken. Eventually the guy who uses it has to attack, or run out of FP. I still haven't killed the wyrm, cant do it solo but when I summon it always seems like I get invaded INSTANTLY. I think y'all are forgetting something, this isn't Dark Souls. From: Let's put a skill in Dark Souls 3 that will let people dodge attacks like a boss and nearly break PvP. The fact that this remains in the game and unchanged since release makes me think Fromsoft is changing their views on difficulty, maybe trying to appeal to a much larger audience. Really takes the challenge out of most of them. The its primarily a single-player game, stop whining people simply havent hit that wall of boredom yet that forces them into just trying PvP for the hell of it. Maybe they never will. Way of the world, I suppose - brings an opportunity for a new developer to revitalize the fundamental tactics and playstyle of Soulslike games, hopefully someone can fill the void. BHS should cost 15FP, more stam than rolling, and 50HP or so, because the guy in the picture looks crippled. I always swap off if the host gets invaded, i think the distance has to stay, because otherwise it is way to hard to close the distance to mages who just spam the **** out of Stars of ruins or Death rancor.Just increase the FP cost to a generous 20 or something like that, and make the startup time longer so that people can't get out of combo attacks. And maybe make the distance depending on your weight category, like, someone with fat roll has half the distance, midroll 3/4 and light roll the full current distance. You get more I frame's with bloodhound and literally teleport. Double Slice is a perfectly good Ash of War which is appropriately slowed down when used on heavier weapons, but then Corpse Piler is the same move with more range, more damage, massive bleed, and the quick version of the animation. There are two types of people: People that complain about BHS, and people that haven't fought against it yet. if you thought this was busted in PvP on heavy armored - colossal weapon users, wait to face a mage that knows how to kite properly. The amount of people trying to justify this unreasonably powerful skill is astounding. Bunch of hypocrites I say. Its not overpowered, just annoying. tl;dr stop whining and let others enjoy the game. this ash is needed when going though haligtree. Maybe giving it a cool down for about 10 sec or more might make a good nerf out of it. Get good. A stupid amount of i-frames+a spammable escape button with barely any cost to stamina or MP isn't balanced when it comes to PVP. While quickstep feels kind of useless comparatively. You can SPAM THE HELL OUTTA IT! at this point with people spamming magic bolt super fast with the flame first followed by the bolt and also great swords that once they get close its impossible to dodge and beat them unless you play the same build and weapons, bloodhound is a valid ash to use now to evade those op magic and greatsword builds. Remidning them, next, that you can still beat the game effortless without usng this And even considering that. I understand the frustration due to the fact that this AoW is OP.But honestly, if you keep spamming magic or dragon breaths in PVP, I use BHS to get closer and punish you. I don't play online so I don't know why people are upset but, I like useing this to escape the Waterfowl Dance and annoying aoes. People complaining about the balance act like Elden Ring is some sort of hardcore pvp E-sport and not a predominantly single/co-op game.Cant let people have fun because they are using a broken build. They say before using some broken builds of their own. they need to take this out of PVP just adds on to the stupid ass poke poke get in your face and delete you in 2 hitsmight as well NOT have PVP honestly. Parry duel naginatas, etc. Nerfing stuff like BHS and RoB would go against one of the major selling points of this game. With cooldown, it would take more skill as if it's resource management. It would still be a great forgiving skill letting you get away up to 19 times without healing and you can easily heal with how much distance it covers. It was added to keep us busy discussing about it ;), "Usable on all melee armaments" and that's my main gripe right here.Absolutely ridiculous to see some bulky tanky guy dual wielding colossal weapons and darting around like a spastic ninja. It makes PVE trivial, and ruins the PVP experience, anyone defending an invincibility button should have their opinion discarded. FP cost raised to 8? This need to be removed from the game. I dont want to dodge waterfowl dance or destined death legitimately, As a invader I use and will keep using it for Long as gankers exist, you talking **** about this ash, try to invade and you will see always the same three kinda of ganks, frenzy snipers, machine gun sorcerers and that godam red katana cancer, try to Dodge those 3, from either remove ganking and bhs ash or keep both. You don't need the approval of maidenless commenters to savor your victories. It's one of the many problems in Elden Ring that threaten the longevity of the game. the travel distance of BHS makes it too difficult for you to be on the offensive. Reminding them first that PvP specific changes exist in this game. This item singlehandedly shortens the life-span of this game. However, I don't think it should be taken out of the game: the bare minimum to make it fun for both sides is 1. make it so spamming it is slower than sprinting.2. Remember old hunters bone from Bloodborne? Why isn't anyone talking about demon souls? Am more of a co-op and story player, so I have no idea why everyone keeps screaming in my ear to NOT use the Bloodhound Step even under these circumstances. That, and we're all good Tarnished helping each other become Lords, no? Foe running away? I actually love this skill - it lets me know immediately who is and isnt an OG, and who will or wont get a Point Down afterwards. I dont like how when devs want to make THEIR game better and the playerbase is pushing back so hard because they have an "EZ WIN" button in their clutch. give a more reasonable vulnerability window.I think this would even please those who use it in PvE, since it makes it so they can still use this ability and have a fun time, they just need to be slightly more careful about timing it instead of mindlessly spamming it. Repositioning? Great for low range weapons - like daggers or claws to deal with the range disadvantage. All rights reserved. Ashes of War can be equipped on Weapons and Shields to modify the Skill or an equipment, or to apply affinities that modify scaling values. If you think it's op in pve then you should stop complaining because there's nothing with using it and it is a valid way to play and experince the amazing open world of elden ring and if you're fighting against it in pvp then just wait it out? I say nerf it by effecting the cost of the skill, stay with 3fp to cast but each repeated cast within 3-4 seconds make the cost double, then double again if they don't wait the 3-4 seconds. I get how this skill is busted and how it breaks PvP, I havent done any PvP yet and mostly play PvE and I use it for two things aside from Malenia (mostly because I despise that terrible fight and don't give a **** about using broken stuff there) and Mohg on my first playthrough.1. I'm trying to beat Malenia. L2! Also an end lag should be added so it cannot be spammed. In PVP, it might be a bit broken, but I think its either broken, or useless, and it'll be impossible to make it somewhere between those. BHS defenders be like: fun is the most important part of RPGs (I agree), so let me use this fun skill!MY BROTHER IN CHRIST, you are literally making all other player's experiences much less fun for your own "fun". Just remove this from the game. Using a R1 after L2 results in a drastically shorter animation time of your attack. At most they would tweak it slightly so it's a bit less effective. It could use a big increase to fp usage, around 10, maybe an increase to stamina usage. As a tool for dodging specific attacks. Feel like it increases your opponents survivability but it makes it harder for them to be on the offensive because of the travel range imo.Have fought many duels and invasions against BHS users but don't really feel the same threat level from them as opposed to something like Vykes war spear which has very good atk speed and range. To all of those saying these games are pve first, why are more people talking about darksouls than sekiro? No one wants to play in an environment where this ability exists as a tool. Previous point minus the healing. Fat rolling? FIrst, for people who want to use this in their PvE session and not affect others, kudos to you for being a decent person. I use it every time I see this. Stop crying about how broken it is when your using a scummy pvp weapon or ash of war to kill someone quickly and this ash of war counters that. When I fought Placidusax recently on my second playthrough I was using an off-hand +23 Magic Cane Sword with BHS (for dual-wielding with my SoNaF) for dealing with the divebomb from the storm cloud and the knock-off Midir lasers.Whenever he'd vanish I'd quickly two-hand my BHS weapon, BHS through the attack and stop two-handing it when it was clear. You cant just flat out remove if. PS. Use the tools the game gives you to level the playing field. It can be used as a way to improve spacing with a low range weapon or as a backup but one that has to be swapped to and doesnt combo into an attack from a strong weapon. Go fast; don't **** on other people. If they make the slightest mistake, you can pressure them and quickly poke them with your big chunk of metal (reminder, bloodhound step will make you faster than someone who SPRINTS).If they hit you (they will have a hard time to one hit you because of the armor) you can also use this to escape and heal, no matter what.So yes, I hope that Fromsoft, when they nerf it, won't make it utterly useless because they tend to do this, but it currently is one of the most broken things in the game in the hands of an average player. Before they nerfed it, you would get flip roll even with Medium speed. If you use this youre unironically a beta male. You know what would be cooler than this? Low FP? Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts. It covers the equivalent to one and half rolls in light equip load. Bloodhound step, nyoom! You are given a huge variety of tools to make the game as easy or difficult as you like. Even the dullest, no Mind investment Joe can get some pretty good mileage outta such a low FP cost! I think BHS should work differently in PVP than it does in PVE so that it (somewhat) satisfies both sides. Some of you get way too upset about this ash. I love this AOW in PVE and it can be a lot of fun if you dont overdo it in pvp for nice plays. Its pretty much cheating in PvP if you're up against someone using it. I think this should be a consumable with 15 charges that gets replenished at a site of grace. What fixes Bloodhound Step enough WITHOUT killing it? I think they need to tie this and quickstep to daggers and fist weapons/claws. Still baffles me that people think that something should be taken out of a game where not everyone plays PVP because they don't like how it works in PVP. Chaining into another BS is just tedious to deal with and whether pvp or pve, it takes pretty much no skill. People want to complain about moonveil weapon art and other top tier weapons, but Bloodhound step literally ruins pvp.
